PhD Project: Religious practices between the local and the transnational in the Afro-European migration context: case studies from Italy and Germany (Research Area Migration)
This PhD project examines how and with what effect religious practices are interlinked with migration processes between Africa and Europe, with case studies from Berlin (Germany) and Genoa (Italy). In particular, it looks at what roles underresearched religious communities with transnational ties play in migration processes (including in the descision to migrate/stay/return) and at existing modi operandi in providing material and immaterial support to migrants. It also considers what implications these dynamics could have on current and future migration policy frameworks.
